Terms and Conditions

It is important to contact us to check the availability of your selected holiday dates by e-mail or telephone. A deposit of £150 is required to secure a booking. The required dates will be held for 4 days. If the deposit is not paid within these 4 days, the booking will be cancelled. If paying by cheque, extra time will be allowed for this.  Bookings can only be confirmed when a deposit has been paid. This will be confirmed by the owners. The balance must be paid 8 weeks prior to your arrival at the cottage. Please be aware that any booking made within 8 weeks of your chosen date will need to be paid in full at the time of booking. The owners require the home address of the person booking and the full names of the other guests.  Failure to supply this information will result in the booking being cancelled.  All short stays must be paid for in full when making the booking.  If cancelled outwith the 8 week time frame, guests will get all but £150 of their total fee back.

The occupants of An Creagan must not exceed the number that you have stated.  We allow a max of 4 guests at the cottage at one time.  Although the cottage can sleep 6, our  policy states a max of 4 people due to the size of the cottage and for the comfort of our guests.  Please contact us if you have any questions about this.  The cottage must only be used by guests and not be used for entertaining or events of any kind.  Unfortunately, the cottage is not suitable for young children.  Due to the size of the property, we can not accommodate high chairs or travel cots.  We are happy to have children stay over the age of 6.

The owners may allow a max of 1 small well behaved dog by arrangement at the cottage. This must be discussed with the owners prior to booking. A supplement of £30 will be added for this. The dog must not be allowed upstairs in the cottage or in any of the bedrooms. The dog is not allowed on any of the furniture, sofa or bedding. Any items that are damaged or need to be replaced must be paid for by the guests.  We supply 2 dog towels for guests to use while at An Creagan-please do not use the guest towels for pets.  We also request that all dog poop be cleaned up and disposed off in the area surrounding the cottage (we supply bags for this!  We recommend that you dog be kept on a lead when out walking as it is a farming community and this can be important especially during the spring time during lambing season.  Thank you

There is a strict no smoking policy on the premises.

Arrivals & Departures
The cottage will be ready for you from 4 pm on arrival day. On arrival, guests will find the key to the cottage in a key safe box by the front door. We will contact you with your key code prior to your stay. Guests must vacate the cottage by 10 am on departure day, and remember to leave the key in the secure key safe. If the key for the cottage is not returned, a charge will be applied for a replacement. All doors and windows must be locked on departure.

We expect that the cottage be left in a clean and tidy condition on departure. If the property is left in a dirty or inappropriate manner, an additional cleaning surcharge may be applied. If we have guests booked in for a 2 week period, we offer a complimentary cleaning service (mid- stay). This must be requested at time of booking.

All damages and losses must be reported prior to departure and must be paid for in full.  We know that accidents can happen, so please just let us know!

If for any reason you need to cancel your booking please notify us know as soon as possible. The cancellation will not be confirmed until you get a written response from us. We will do our best to re-let the cancelled dates. If we can do this, you will get all except your deposit refunded. If however the cancellation is within 8 weeks of your booked dates, and we cannot re-let the cottage, you will forfeit your full booking fee (deposit and balance). All Deposits are non-refundable.

Unreasonable behaviour
The owners of An Creagan reserve the right to remove any person or persons from the cottage if they deem the behaviour of the guests to be unreasonable; have exceeded the persons permitted in the property or have caused any damage to the cottage/contents/exterior, or refuse to exit the property on their departure day and correct time. Under such circumstance, the owners will refuse a refund.

Unforeseen Circumstances
The owners will do their best to ensure that dates selected by guests are kept but, if for any reason the cottage becomes unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, we cannot guarantee alternative accommodation. If this occurs, a full refund will be given and there will be no claim against the owners. As a good will gesture, a discount will be offered if guests would like to re-select another available date in the future. The owners are also not responsible if adverse weather conditions or delays that stop guests arriving at the cottage. No refund will be given under circumstances that are out-with the owner’s control.  The isle of Skye may also be affected by power cuts, especially during winter.  If this happens, no responsibility lies with the owners and guests are not entitled to and money back.  In the event of a power cut, the owners will do their best to make the guests stay as comfortable as possible.

Holiday Insurance
We advise that guests take out their own insurance to minimise any costs caused by cancelled booking and any loss or damage to vehicles & contents and personal property and also against personal injury. The owners are not responsible for any loss or damage to personal property of guests or for any personal injury to guests during their stay.

Due care
Due care must be applied when using items such as candles (only candles and holders supplied can be used in the property), the outdoor BBQ, and the multi-fuel stove. Guests are expected to read and follow the instructions for the multi-fuel stove in the guest information book. If any children are staying in the house, the fire-guard must be used, as the stove (including the handle) heat up very quickly. Gloves must be used at all times when touching the handle, and ash must be cool before cleaning out daily. Such items must only be used by adults, in a safe and sensible way with due care. The owners of the cottage are not responsible for any injuries caused to guests and specify that all the above items must be properly supervised if children are in the vicinity.  We also allow access for guests Hay Loft, this is the upstairs area of the barn.  Under no circumstances should children be allowed in this area unaccompanied.

Fair usage policy
Electricity and wood for the stove are included in the cost of the rental (coal for the BBQ and the multi-fuel stove must be supplied by the guests). However, we operate on the basis of a fair usage policy and reserve the right to charge for exceeding this. Please contact us if you would like further information on this matter.
